A classic French song to sing to or with your baby or child. When your little one gets the lyrics down pat, you can try singing it in rounds. To sing in a round, you sing the first line of the song and when you move onto the second, your child can start singing the first line so that they are one line behind you. When you get to the “Ding dang dong” line – keep singing until they catch up with you and then you can both finish the song together.

French
Frere Jacques, Frere Jacques,
Dormez-vous? Dormez-vous? Placez le visage sur les mains et faire semblant de dormer.
Sonnez les matines, sonnez les matines Mime sonner les cloches.
Ding dang dong, ding dang dong. Danse côté à l’autre, comme une cloche.
English
Are you sleeping, are you sleeping? Fold hands under cheek and pretend to sleep.
Brother John, Brother John?
Morning bells are ringing, morning bells are ringing Mime ringing bells.
Ding dang dong, ding dang dong Dance body side to side like a big ringing bell.
